Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday asked dethroned Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, and other members who joined other political parties to “return back home”.
Briefing journalists, the caucus, led by the Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who made this known, described the Supreme Court judgement of Wednesday on the leadership tussle in the party as no victor, no vanquished.
Akpabio assured the defected members of the party that nobody would be penalised for defecting when he or she returns to the party.
He said the victory is not only for the members of the party, but for all Nigerians, adding: “Today is a great day for Nigeria’s democracy.”
Also speaking, the former Senate President, David Mark, said the process of change in the party is on course with the decision of the Supreme Court.
According to Mark, it is not victory for PDP but for democracy.
He said: “This is warning for us that we should never allow family dispute to get to this level, change the change is on course. I think I must also thank the media for their support during the strugle. We used this avenue to welcome all PDP defectors back home.”
