PDP says it will not be distracted by opposition attacks

The Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday in Abuja said that it would not be distracted by attacks from the opposition party.
Olisa Metuh, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made this known in a statement.
Metuh added that the party would remain committed to curbing unemployment in line with its manifesto and the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.
He, however, said that the All Progressives Congress should be “ashamed of itself” for seeking to play politics with the unfortunate death of some Nigerians at a stampede during the Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment test on Saturday.
Metuh said that the APC by its statement on the incident, which occurred on March 15, has again shown that it lacked respect for human life.
He said it was despicable for the APC to condescend so low to trivialise and politicise weighty issues bordering on human lives while families of the deceased were still mourning.
This, he noted, was all in a bid to score a cheap political point.
Metuh described the APC statement as “crass”, adding that it has further exposed it “as a party of insensitive persons blinded by inordinate quest for power”.
He maintained that as a responsive party, the PDP has since the incidence occurred swung into action.
He added that the PDP had since charged all relevant agencies to immediately conduct detailed investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the stampede.
He also said that the Federal Government has already started an immediate response to the incident.
