The Campaign Organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party said it has uncovered wishes to draw the attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies to the criminal activities and electoral offences being perpetrated by the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The party said it is appalled that the leadership of the APC has engaged its members to procure the INEC-issued Permanent Voter Cards from potential voters in the state, believing that the development portends grave danger to the nation’s democracy as well as jeopardising the efforts of the government and the Commission in the quest for free and fair elections.
The PDP said it has received several reports from the 23 local government areas of the state that N10,000 is being paid per PVC by the APC, thereby disenfranchising their owners in the March 28 and April 11 general elections.
The PDP, therefore, calls on the security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently check this ugly political trend by arresting and prosecuting the culprits to ensure a free, transparent and participatory election in the state and cut in the bud the possible likely to arise from such electoral fraud.
