Manny Pacquiao insists there is a public demand to see him rematch Floyd Mayweather four years on from their disappointing first fight.
The legendary eight-division boxing champion returned to the ring aged 40 on Saturday night and comprehensively beat down Adrien Broner to claim a unanimous decision victory in Las Vegas.
After the fight, Pacquiao attempted to call out Mayweather who was watching from ringside, however the American remained unmoved.
A couple of days later the pair met again at an NBA game and greeted one another, though they are still yet to discuss a second fight according to the Filipino.
Upon arriving back in his home country on Thursday, Pacquiao told local reporters: “I just said hello there, we did not talk about it [the rematch].
“Maybe in one to two weeks we’ll know if there’s a development with Mayweather.”
In 2015, the pair finally fought after many years of failed negotiations.
The bout was the biggest commercial success in boxing history, however it failed to live up to its billing with Mayweather winning comfortably on points.
When asked to justify a second fight, Pacquiao replied: “Many people like this fight. Many countries are bidding.
“There is China, Dubai [UAE], in case the rematch will happen.”
Regardless of whether or not he meets Mayweather in the ring, Pacquiao will definitely fight on.
The 40-year-old is now a member of the Filipino Senate and so is restricted to fighting in between periods when he is needed for political work.
Regarding when his next appearance in the ring could come, Pacquiao stated: “We are looking at the months of the next fight. Either May or July.
“That’s because it’s the time we have no Senate work.”
