Chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday lost their polling units to the rival All Progressives Congress in the ongoing governorship election in Osun State.
Top on the list of those that lost their polling units were Hon. Adejare Bello, the running mate of the PDP candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore; a former Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada; and the party’s state Chairman, Gani Ola-Oluwa.
Bello lost the election in his Ede North polling unit where his party scored 30 votes as against 130 for the APC.
Olaoluwa also lost the election in his Olorunda Local Government Area polling unit where PDP scored 95 votes as against APC’s 142 votes.
Obada lost in her Ibodi, Atakunmosa West Local Government Area polling unit, where the PDP scored three votes, while the APC had 300 votes.
Results in so far pointed in the direction of victory for the incumbent and candidate of the APC, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, who recently moved from the PDP to the APC delivered Ede North for Aregbesola as the APC scored 640 votes as against the PDP’s nine votes.
Omisore made a strong showing in some polling units in Ife zone, where he scored 149 votes in Ife Central Ward 05, Unit 01, while the APC scored 73 votes.
However, a former Governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who also just moved from the PDP to the APC, could not deliver for his new party.
While the APC scored 61 votes in Oyinlola’s domain, the PDP polled 125 votes.
