The helicopter that was to convey the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja on Thursday to the Presidential Villa, Abuja developed “technical” fault shortly after take off, forcing it to make an emergency landing.
The spokesman of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, confirmed the development on Thursday.
Osinbajo was at the NCS Command and Staff College for the graduation ceremony of Senior Division Course 1/2018 participants.
He was brought to the ceremony in the same helicopter.
On take off after the ceremony, the chopper started emitting thick fumes, forcing it to land shortly after.
Akande, on his Twitter handle: @akandeoj, wrote after the incident: “VP Osinbajo attended the graduation ceremony of Nigeria Customs Senior Course in Gwagwalada today. On his way back it was decided, for technical reasons, not to fly the chopper that had brought him to the venue. He drove back to the Presidential Villa & continued his schedule.”
