Omisore to INEC: Aregbesola declaring own results

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has dragged the incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, before the Independent National Electoral Commission for allegedly violating the electoral law in respect of the poll.
Omisore, in a letter to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, alleged that Aregbesola had been declaring his own results of the election, which he said was against the rules of the election.
In the letter titled: “PROTEST ON THE AUGUST 09 2014 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION,” Omisore said the results published runs contrary to what was apparent.
He said the action of the APC was in conflict with the Electoral Law 2010.
He wrote: “Above refers. I hereby condemn the APC candidate, Raufu Aregbesola, declaring his own version of the results without recourse to INEC. With the facts of results, its apparent that the PDP candidate, Dr. Iyiola Omisore is leading.
“This act of APC is in conflict with the provisions of Electoral Law 2010 whereby a candidate can concoct figures and released to confuse the public thus make this election inconclusive until facts behind the figures are released by the INEC.
“The peace and stability of this state is such under an unprecedented threat. The results so far by APC remained cancelled.”
