Fourteen-year-old Chioma Kanu of Lagos State on Saturday clinched the gold medal in the 100m freestyle swimming at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
The 14-year-old girl Lagos representative, who was filled with joy, expressed satisfaction with her overall performance at the games.
Kanu said: “I am very glad and feel so excited.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me, especially my coach.
“This gold medal is a dream come true for me and I must give thanks to God for this achievement.”

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Kanu clinched the gold medal in a time of 1:05:06 minutes.
In the male category, Ibuunife Obajilowo of Kwara State won the 100m freestyle to clinch the gold medal in swimming in a time of 1:08:06 minutes.
