The Board of Nigeria Premier League has commiserated with Senator Bukola Saraki, and the Management and players of ABS FC over the death of Dr. Olusola Saraki, the father of the chairman of the club.
The Chairman of the NPL, Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, in a condolence message to the management of ABS FC, described the death of the Saraki patriarch as a big loss to Nigeria, considering his contributions to the political and economic development of the country.
Baribote said: “So much positive things have been said of your late father, Dr. Olusola Saraki, and that is a testimony to his impact on the nation both in political and economic terms.”
The NPL, he promised, “will honour late Pa Saraki by ensuring that our league continues to provide platforms for Nigerian youths to express their talents and become agents for positive change in the society in conformity with his vision during his lifetime.”
Baribote commended Senator Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, for financing the Ilorin-based ABS FC, which is one of the two clubs in the Nigeria Premier League not funded by government.
The other is the newly-promoted Nembe City FC, which was founded last year by the NPL Chairman.
