Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure on Wednesday defeated visiting Rangers International of Enugu in a 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day 16 fixture.
The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure saw Samad Quadri putting the home team ahead in the 16th minute.
Chisom Egbuchulam drew Rangers level through a well-taken free-kick from 20 yards out in the 37th minute.
Okiki Afolabi scored his eighth goal of the season in the 60th minute to restore Sunshine Stars’ lead in the game.
Solomon Ogbeide, Sunshine Stars’ Technical Adviser, in an interview with newsmen after the game, said he was elated with his players’ performance and the match’s result.
Ogbeide however said what happened in the second half was the contrast of what happened in the second half in terms of performance.
He praised the visiting team for playing a good game.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Sunshine Stars now have 21 points from 16 matches and will now face Warri Wolves in their next away match on Sunday.
