The Nigeria Professional Football League tie between Akwa United and their Warri Wolves counterparts was brought to abrupt end at the Uyo Township Stadium as referees refused to return for the second half of the game.
Reports reaching The Eagle Online have it that the referees fled after they were attacked inside the dressing room by angry fans at the stadium.
It was also learnt that the fans protested against the officiating of the game.
DSTV beamed the embarrassing moment live on television as teams were left stranded as they await the referees return.
The game ended 2-0 in favour of Akwa United but the League Management Company is expected to make public their position on the game.
