Mike Idoko, the Executive Director of the Ondo State Football Agency, on Wednesday called on Nigeria Professional Football League stakeholders to join hands in the development of the league.
Idoko’s call came on the heels of the two court injunctions secured by various parties against the exclusion of Giwa FC of Jos, Plateau State and Nembe City FC of Brass, Bayelsa State from the 2013/2014 Nigeria Professional League season.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that such the parties to the suits should embrace dialogue in the interest of the league.
He said: “I think we need dialogue.
“We can’t keep on fighting.
“Let all the parties come together and work as a team.
“Nothing is as good as dialogue.
“You shift ground, you accept some and I accept some and then we then come to the centre, so that our league will grow.
“Let us not be made a laughing stock that every time we have one challenge or the other.
“It’s not proper.”
According Idoko, there was the need to forge ahead to enable the Nigerian elite league compete with other developed leagues in the world.
He called for better cooperation between the League Management Committee and the league clubs in the elite division.
NAN recalls that football enthusiasts, Funky Odigie and Mustapha Abubakar, are in court to enforce their rights to watch Giwa FC in the ongoing league season.
The injunction obtained by Odigie sought to compel the LMC to include Giwa FC in the league while that of Abubakar wanted to enforce his rights of enjoying the league competition.
Giwa FC and Nembe City were excluded from the league by LMC following their inability to meet some registration guidelines, particularly in the area of players’ remuneration.
