NPFL: Giwa FC expelled

The League Management Company on Friday expelled Giwa FC from the Nigeria Professional Football League 2016 season for breach of NPFL Framework and Rules.
This decision was contained in a tweet on the official handle of the LMC: @LMCNPFL.
Giwa FC failed to honour three consecutive fixtures without acceptable reasons.
The fixtures were against Wikki Tourists in a Match Day 14 game, Akwa United on Match Day 16 and Enyimba on Match Day 18.
All the matches were scheduled for the Florin Township Stadium in Kwara State.
The club was banished to Ilorin when its fans became unruly in a match where it was trailing Rangers on its home ground at the Jos Township Stadium in Plateau State.
The tweet by the LMC added: “For failing to honour the fixture with Enyimba, Giwa FC will pay a fine of N10million.”
This decision of the LMC was based on Article 13.28 of the rules governing the NPFL.
LMC’s Article 13.28 states: “If a Club fails to honour three matches cumulatively within the League season without an acceptable reason to the LMC such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed match shall be cancelled.”
The club however has a right to appeal or accept the decision.
It has 48 hours to appeal.
