The recent appointment and swearing-in of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has doused the tension in the polity and shut the mouths of pessimists who never see anything good in the new era that God in His infinite mercy bestowed on our dear fatherland.
When the wind of change, which we are now experiencing and enjoying (apart from the enemies of progress of Nigeria), started last year, many thought it was a child’s place. The Peoples Democratic Party and the last government certainly did not perceive it as an act of God until it was too late.
When the fullness of time did came, many were swept away by its avalanche and many more of the perpetrators of the monumental corruption that nearly brought Nigeria to its knees will be put away and sent to share beans with other inmates in gaol by the tsunami of the anti-corruption crusade that is about to engulf them all.
These people and their apologists are those who did not and probably will never see anything good in this new dispensation. Whatever action this government takes will never be good in their sight. Nigeria and the long suffering Nigerians certainly do not need them in circulation. We don’t want them dead, we want them alive but put away to see this country rise again and take its rightful place in the comity of progressive nations.
This is why it is incumbent on the new appointed ministers to hit the ground running in ensuring delivery of the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians. Expectations are high and rightly so given the rotten state PDP left this country before they were swept into (hopefully) oblivion where they rightly belong.
The new cabinet has a lot on its hands and this is not the time to grand stand or pussy foot around. The masses need to begin to see positive results by mid-term of this administration failing which it stands to lose the massive goodwill that brought it into power. Every minister (whether super or not) must acknowledge the enormous expectations of Nigerians from them to deliver and get to work like their life depends on it. The decay in every fabric of this nation must be addressed and lasting solutions brought to bear to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses.
A word they say is enough for the wise.
