Nottingham Forest are on the verge of announcing the signing of former Nigeria U20 international, Sammy Ameobi, according to reports.
The Nottingham Post says Forest have reignited their interest in the winger and his transfer to the club could be completed in the next twenty four hours.
Ameobi is currently unemployed after he was released by demoted Bolton Wanderers at the end of the 2018-2019 campaign.
The 27-year-old could be manager Martin O’Neill’s first signing since the transfer window opened for business.
He spent nine years at Newcastle United before a permanent move to Bolton Wanderers in 2017 and played 91 matches for the Trotters, scoring 12 goals.
Ameobi has two caps for Nigeria at U20 level and pledged his international future to the Super Eagles in January 2018 after representing England U21s.
