A member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Sam Nkire, has urged Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and his predecessor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to call their supporters to order in the interest of peace and good governance.
Reacting to the media war now going on between some supporters of the duo, Nkire said if left unchecked, the rumours and stories making the rounds were capable of tearing the state apart.
The APC chieftain said although none of the principals has said anything to confirm or deny the unhealthy rumours and stories, it was in the best interest of the state for them to “call the attack dogs back to base”.
He recalled how not too long ago, Kano State was adjudged the first or second fastest developing state in the country in both physical infrastructure and human capacity building due to the hard work of Kwankwaso and Ganduje as governor and deputy governor.
According to Nkire, the APC, as a party at both the federal and state levels, would be the worst for it if nothing is done to quench the smouldering fire.
He said the APC’s loss will be the gain for the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
He blamed the disquiet in Kano State on some selfish political aides and rumour mongers and therefore advised the ruling APC in the state to do everything possible within the law to ensure that the PDP is not allowed a foothold in the state
