Nigeria’s shooting sport coaches committed to developing themselves, ISSF tutors say

Nigerian coaches in the shooting sport deserve commendation for their commitment to develop themselves, two International Shooting Sport Federation tutors said on Friday in Abuja.
The two tutors, who are of Serbian origin, have been in Abuja to conduct the ISSF Grade D Coaching Course which ended on Thursday.
They told the News Agency of Nigeria that the 36 course participants have the tendency to get higher qualifications in due course.
NAN reports that the course, the first one ever in Nigeria, was hosted by the Nigeria Shooting Federation with the support of the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
The coaches were from military, para-military and civilian organisations and they participated in lectures in focusing on pistol and rifle.
Goran Maksinovic, an ‘A’ Grade Coach and International Instructor of ISSF, said the participants showed good enthusiasm to learn everything the course has for them.
He said: “They were all committed to get the Grade D Course Certificate, which will help them to go further.”
Similarly, Marko Sokic, a ‘B+’ Coach and ISSF Instructor, also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the participants.
Soki said: “They are very disciplined and very committed, and they have the tendency to produce world-class shooters in future.”
Also, some of the course participants also expressed satisfaction with the quality of training they have acquired.
Mercy Ayuba, a female coach and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force, said the quality of the course was excellent, while the instructors were wonderful.
Ayuba said: “I can now prepare my athletes in a more technical way for future events.”
Also, Yahaya Yusuf, a Nigeria Police Force officer and Shooting Sport Coach in the FCT said it was an experience he had never had, thanking NSF for making it possible.
Yusuf said: “The level of knowledge acquired from this course will greatly help participants to train their athletes in a more resourceful manner.
“Our country will definitely benefit lot from it in no distant future.”
Speaking later with NAN, Oladeji Adeoye, the President of NSF, expressed appreciation to the participants, world governing body ISSF and the Federal Government for helping to make the course a success.
Adeoye said: “I am highly impressed with the conduct of all participants. They have shown that acquired knowledge can be fully impacted on current and future athletes.
“That will really help to bring out the raw shooting sport talents that are in every part of Nigeria for global recognition.”
NAN reports that the three-day course was declared open by Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Youths and Sports Development, who was represented by Yemi Usikaye, a deputy Director in the ministry.
