The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, on Saturday said Nigerians were eager to participate in the 2015 general election.
Ikuforiji made the remark in Epe shortly after he registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress in the ongoing party membership registration.
The speaker registered as APC member at Ward A4 Oke-Oyinbo, Epe, with number 04007901.
The APC membership registration exercise, which kicked off nationwide on February 5, will end on February 10.
Ikuforiji said: “Generally, Nigerian citizens are eager and ready to participate actively in the 2015 general election.
“Perhaps, because of the experience of the past, they have really shown interest in the ongoing APC membership registration.
“All the registration centres here in Epe witnessed a tremendous turnout of people.”
Ikuforiji also advised the Independent National Electoral Commission to prepare adequately for the elections by putting necessary logistics in place to allow free and fair elections in 2015.
The speaker said that only free and fair election could give the electoral body the credit it deserves.
He said that the alleged disruption of the APC registration exercise in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was undemocratic.
The speaker appealed to the people of Rivers State to shun political violence and allow peaceful co-existence in the state.
