Reason being that the likes of Okupe et al, who was allegedly receiving N100 million per month, would have continued with their discreet milking of the nation’s treasuries.
Stealing Nigerians’ common wealth, which was no corruption in the parlance of the ex-president has eaten up our economy to zero, like a vampire will chew humans. No wonder the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was rendered ineffective by the last administration, giving every thief, both cowardly and brave, the latitude to have a share of the national cake. Yet we were told that the country was the largest economy with the best GDP in Africa. The lamentable situation of the economy now has lucidly shown that the then Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, together with her boss deceived and lied to us. If not, why no reflection of their claim on the economy?
President Muhammadu Buhari is apparently at the crossroads. Highly confused, indeed! The lies packaged by the last administration never made him see that there were more dangers on the way for him. There is no amount of policy made by him that will not be jettisoned by the disadvantages of corruption. By now, we should have been having beneficial feel of this government. But no, lucifers have made things extremely difficult for the supposed messiah to deliver the country from its ruins.
Oh Allah! Ease this heinous task for our leader(s), so that we can all smile gladly in the end.
