The 24 members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly and representatives of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state are currently attending a three-day training workshop on budget promotion and accountability.
The training workshop was organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation, Arewa Research Development Projects.
Alhaji Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura, Public Relations Officer of the state House of Assembly, disclosed this in a statement in Gusau on Saturday.
According to Jafaru-Kaura, the Speaker, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya, led the 23 members, some officials of the House and Representatives of some MDAs in the state to Kaduna for the three-day seminar.
He said the three-day seminar by the NGO was aimed promoting social accountability and anti-corruption in northern Nigeria.
The statement said: “The training which is to take place from October 18 to October 20, 2019 in Kaduna will focus on budget promotion and social accountability.
“The participants comprised 24 members of Zamfara House of Assembly, Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the House as well as Public Relations Officer of the House.
“Other participants include representative of the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Anti-Corruption Agency and Civil Society Organizations.”
Speaking to NAN in a telephone interview, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Alhaji Nasiru Bello-Lawal, said the seminar was part of preparations to receive the 2020 appropriation bill by the state Governor, Alhaji Bello Matawallen-Maradun.
