The state chairmen of the All Progressives Congress have disassociated the state chapters of the party from the letter written by the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun to the National Assembly.
Odigie-Oyegun had written the National Assembly on the nomination of its principal officers.
The letter was addressed to the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday.
The Forum of State Chairmen said the letter was a product of poor consultation and failed to reflect geopolitical spread in the allocation of principal offices.
The Forum of State Chairmen also did not endorse the position of the National Working Committtee on the recent leadership tussle in the National Assembly.
It said there were three cardinal issues that we resolved .
A statement by the chairmen on Sunday stated: “We affirmed the obvious fact that the party is supreme as contained in our party constitution.
“We resolved that in carrying out this supreme duty, the party leadership must not see their supremacy as an alternative to equity and justice or a licence to impunity.
“That in carrying out this supreme function, the principle of federal character and geopolitical spread must be taken into consideration in the allocation of principal offices.
“Finally, we also resolved that no communique should be issued but that our stand should be communicated to the Chairman of the National Caucus.”
