Actor Yomi Fabiyi has denied claims that his new movie, Oko Iyabo, undermines the girl child and trivialises the sexual abuse of comedienne Princess’s underage foster daughter.
Fabiyi stated his defence in a video on his Instagram page that went viral on Tuesday after he was attacked by several persons.
The video was also pulled down by YouTube, though Fabiyi said he endorsed it.
Recall that The Eagle Online earlier reported that the actor in the movie was accused of making it look like the minor was having an affair with Olanrewaju Omiyinka, also known as Baba Ijesha, who is facing trial for child molestation and sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, social media users who have seen the movie claim it was about the sexual assault on Princess’s foster daughter, but he misrepresented the story to make the victim and those calling for justice look bad.
According to the viewers, Fabiyi represented the underage victim of Baba Ijesha as an adult who had a consensual relationship with the Yoruba actor.
He also allegedly presented Iyabo Ojo, who has been calling for justice for the abused girl, as a prostitute.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Fabiyi denied claims that his movie undermines the girl child.
He said: “Those of you that are very quick to insult people on social media, I don’t know what is wrong with you.
“Some of you always feel that is the end of one’s career.
“I don’t have any thing to do with you.
“We will continue to be on social media together.
“God sees my conscience.
“No part of my movie Oko Iyabo undermines the girl child.
“So don’t let them play anything into your head.”
