Muslims have been called upon to place emphasis on knowledge acquisition and empowerment of youths as the antidote to crime prevention and growth of the society.
A former Secretary tothe Oyo State Government, Alhaji Sarafadeen Alli, gave the advice at the first Walimat khatimil Quran (Quranic graduation) and conferment of Islamic titles on eminent Muslims of the Wasilat Aduke Alli Central Mosque, New Ife Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Alli noted that Muslims are still far from getting to the promised land in the field of education and called for concerted efforts on the part of all.
He advised Muslim leaders to establish more companies capable of generating employment for the teeming youths and thus reduce unemployment in the country.
The former governorship candidate in Oyo State said the future of the country lies with the youths of today, hence the urgent need by all the stakeholders to rally round and do something to assist the youth to be relevant and useful in future.
He expressed worries over increasing high rate of crime in the society being perpetrated by the jobless youths, calling on government at all levels to do something urgent so as to reduce the crime rate in the country.
Earlier, the Guest Speaker, Shaykh Abdul Wasii Alakia, admonished the graduands to be more committed to their studies.
Alakia also implored the Islamic titled holders not to rest on their oars and contribute their own quota to the Islamic propagation in their respective community.
The chief host and Imam of the central mosque, Alhaj Mas’ud Akintola, assured the people that with the support given to the Muslim community of the Mosque, the mission and vision of the Mosque would be realised.
A total of 10 graduands of six boys and four girls completed their studies in Qur’an, while 10 Islamic titles were bestowed on five Muslim men and five Muslim Women.
