Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command and the state vigilante operatives have arrested nine suspects “actively involved” in the murder of a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Justice Azuka.
The arrest of the suspects was confirmed by the Commissioner, Anambra State Police Command, CP Nnaghe Itam, on Friday.
Itam, who spoke at a news briefing, said the suspects were arrested on Thursday.
The Eagle Online recalls that Azuka, the representative of Onitsha North Constituency 1, was abducted on December 24, 2024 in Onitsha, the commercial nerve centre of Anambra State.
His decomposing body was discovered on the Second Niger Bridge on Thursday by a team of policemen and vigilantes.

CP Itam disclosed that two pump action guns were recovered from the suspects, revealing that one of the suspects sustained a gunshot injury in his leg during a gun duel with the operatives.
The arrested suspects were: Ugochukwu Onuorah, 30, Ikemefuna Ossai, 20; Ikenna Orugu, 27; Chibuike Obiefuna, 19; Chinonso Olisa, 19; Chinedu Okoli, 21; David Ojini, 25; and Peter Sunday, 20, who had a big tattoo inscription on his chest: No peace 4 d Government.
