Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel returned to action as Chelsea fought a one-all draw against Premiership champions, Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
Mikel who has since been left out by manager Jose Mourinho tasted 27 minutes of action, replacing Willian in the 63rd minute of the encounter.
The combative midfielder has only made two appearances for the Stamford Bridge side after five weeks of action in the English Premiership.
The midfielder who is being criticized by the Nigerian fans failed to bring his experience to bare as the Super Eagles lost 2-0 to the Congolese opponents in Calabar and also drew goalless against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Cape Town.
The floppy outing left Nigeria third in Afcon 2015 qualifying group.
