Former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, on Monday in Kaduna met for more than an hour with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, retired General Muhammadu Buhari.
Mbeki, accompanied by former Nigeria’s Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, met with Buhari at his residence behind closed doors.
Although none of the three men spoke to newsmen after the meeting, the News Agency of Nigeria learnt that it was in furtherance of the efforts to promote peace ahead of the march 28 and April 11 general elections.
Both Buhari and President Goodluck Jonathan had signed a peace accord in January to demonstrate their commitment to free, fair, credible and violence-free general elections.
NAN reports that Mbeki and Abubakar on Sunday met with President Jonathan in Abuja.
