A former Chief of Staff in Abia State, Mascot Uzor Kalu, has called on the people of the state to support President Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office.
Kalu described Jonathan as a true Nigerian with the people’s welfare paramount in his heart.
The seasoned banker made the call at a meeting he had with some professionals from Abia State, based in Abuja at the weekend.
According to a statement on Tuesday, Kalu told the gathering that the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President is, no doubt, yielding positive results and has gone a long way in alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians.
He said: “Our country has been relatively stable under the present administration.”
He added that the Boko Haram challenge was manmade and urged the perpetrators of the dreadful act to desist as Nigeria is bigger than any individual.
Kalu was quoted by the statement as having said: “Mr. President is a complete gentleman, who believes in fairness, justice and equity.
“His regime has promoted freedom of expression, which is the hallmark of any civilian regime.
“He has shown the world that democracy is about the people.”
Earlier a medical expert, Dr. Chike Eze, said the purpose of the meeting was to network and share ideas amongst themselves.
Eze added that they were also concerned about the state of affairs in Abia State, popularly referred to as God’s Own State, while calling on the people at the helm of affairs to rise up to the challenges of leadership.
He used the opportunity to call on sons and daughters of Abia State to return home to invest in the local economy.
The gathering unanimously agreed to support one of their own, Mascot Orji Kalu, as the next governor of Abia State in 2015.
Kalu was described as young, articulate and dynamic.
