The Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, has challenged teachers to up their responsibility of ensuring that every child gets a sound academic foundation at the elementary stage, describing it as strategic to the intellectual development of the child.
Disclosing to the teachers and some of the community leaders who had come to welcome him the reason for his visit to Achi Primary School in Achi-Ezi-Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government of Area Imo State, Madumere said his visit was in line with the education policy of the Owelle Rochas Okorocha-led Rescue Mission Administration not only to offer free and qualitative education, but to also mentor the children with a view to helping them develop good self-esteem.
Commending the teachers for their efforts in developing the Imo State child, he charged them to do more, stressing that the future of the State and the nation in general is in their hands.
His word: “There is need to ensure the children have solid foundation, which remains a catalyst that will spur them into discovering their potentials in time.
“While I commend you, I also want you to go the extra mile to deliver on this patriotic goal because your job is very strategic to what becomes of our State and the nation at large tomorrow.”
Interacting with the pupils of Achi Mbieri primary School, Prince Madumere advised them to always pay attention to what their teachers teach them in class and be hard working by doing their assignments and home work.
He reminded them that without education, it will be difficult for them to succeed and take their rightful place in the society as leaders of tomorrow.
While requesting from the children what to do in appreciation of the effort of the Owelle Rochas Okorocha-led Government in making free education free at an interactive session, Chikamso Delight, in her innocence, said: “We should be obedient to our parents, we should obey our teachers and read our books.
“We are supposed to read our books and pray all the time.”
