The Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO), has begun the inspection of stadia to be used by club-sides for home matches in the NLO 2017/2018 league season.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the ongoing stadia inspection is sequel to the commencement of the 2017/2018 NLO league season scheduled to begin on March 29.
Ebere Amaraizu, the NLO Director in-Charge of the South East, made the disclosure to NAN in Enugu on Friday.
Amaraizu said the NLO team had already inspected Ginger Amanaha Mini-Stadium in Ntigha community in Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia, being the venue to be used by Abia Warriors Feeders FC of Umuahia.
He noted that the stadium had already got about 95 per cent of the requirements specified by the NLO board and within some days, would have the remaining requirements in place.
The director said the NLO board had put the programmes, including the inspection of some identified stadia in place across the federation, where NLO league matches would hold be with a view to finding out if they could meet with the stipulated standard.
He said: “These standards include, a fenced external wall or perimeter fencing as well as decent and functional dressing rooms for players, substitution board, stands for home team, away team and spectators.
“There is the need to have a scoreboard either manual or electronic, TV camera stands and toilet facilities.
“Most importantly, a good field or pitch; well-marked with goal pole and net among others.’’
Amaraizu assured that all the stadia must be strictly inspected and the findings forwarded to NLO secretariat for further action.
The director said that the NLO board had been working round the clock to enhance the growth and development of the Nigerian football as NLO remained the cradle of the Nigerian football.
He, however, reiterated the NLO board directives to all club-sides in the league to register at least 15 Under-19 players.
