The Director Technical and Administration of the Ondo State Football Agency, Mike Idoko, has ended his contract after seeing off his five-year deal with the agency.
The former General Manager of Warri Wolves, who has been part of the string of successes recorded by Sunshine Stars, especially qualification to play in the CAF club competitions, said he decided not to seek renewal in order to pursue other career path.
Idoko said: “I am happy to announce that I have ended my contract with OSFA, the arm managing Sunshine Stars and all other football teams in Ondo State. How I wish I can remain in Akure forever!
“In my five years with the agency, I must confess the robust relationship I built with the people of Ondo State. I am particularly grateful to His Excellency, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, for being a nationalist. Despite that I am not from Ondo State, he kept faith in me and gave me the enabling environment to work.
“Again, the current chairman of OSFA, Akin Akinbobola, has proved to be a worthy friend. He brought me to OSFA and throughout my stay, he cooperated with me and together, we achieved the little success we recorded. I have no doubt that with Akin, OSFA will be well positioned for positive change.”
The Benue State born football administrator added that he was leaving Akure and the people of Ondo State with nostalgia.
He added: “I enjoyed the work environment and the hospitality of the people. If I have my way, I wish to remain in Akure but there is a time for everything. One has to move on at a particular time in life and that is what I have just done by not my renewing contract.”
