The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, on Sunday visited the recuperating troops who were wounded during recent encounter with Boko Haram insurgents in Gorgi area of Borno state.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, in a statement on Sunday said the soldiers are recuperating at the 7 Division Medical Service and Hospital in Maiduguri.
Musa said the visit was the second in recent times, adding that the COAS had earlier sent the Nigerian Army Chief of Training and Operations, Major General Enobong Udoh, to visit them.
According to him, the visit followed an encounter in Gorgi area and the resultant various degrees of injuries sustained by some troops of the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole on March 22.
He disclosed that some of the wounded have been evacuated to 44 Reference Hospital, Kaduna for more specialised treatment and management.
Musa added that Buratai was accompanied by some Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters as well as the Theatre Commander, Major General Faruk Yahaya, among others.
