Land fraud: Prosecution drops charge against Ojikutu

The Prosecution on Wednesday dropped a criminal charge against a former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, over N130 million fraud.
The Police Special Fraud Unit had brought a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing against the former deputy governor.
When the case was mentioned, the prosecutor, Effiong Asuquo, informed the court that the prosecution was withdrawing the charge against Ojikutu.
Asuquo, therefore, made an oral application for the charge to be withdrawn.
Justice Mohammed Yunusa, in a short ruling, granted the prayer of the prosecution and accordingly struck out the charge.
In the charge, Ojikutu was alleged to have committed the offence in September 2011.
She was alleged to have conspired with one Sampson Ojikutu, who was at large, to fraudulently obtain the sum of N130 million from one Cajetan Okekearu for land at Lekki, Phase 1.
