Lalong commends security agencies for release of abducted Plateau aid worker

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has lauded security agencies, especially the Department of State Services, for the rescue of an abducted aid worker, Jennifer Samuel, a nurse from Plateau State.
The state’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Makut Macham, said this in a statement on Thursday in Jos.
Samuel along with four other aid workers were abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on December 22, 2019.
Lalong said he was excited that the aid worker, who works with Alliance for International Medical Action, was set free.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts in ensuring that all those in captivity were released, as well as crush the terrorist group.
The governor, however, urged members of the public to continue to pray for the release of many others in captivity.
Lalong stated that efforts to rescue other citizens of the state that were still held hostage by the insurgents were ongoing.
He, however, urged the families and people of the state to support the government and security agencies with useful information that would assist in their quick release.
According to him, more security measures are being adopted to tackle incidences of criminality and forestall attacks on innocent citizens.
NAN reports that the Plateau State Chapter of the National Association of Nurses and Midwives had earlier in the year appealed to Lalong to lift the embargo on employment of nurses into the state civil service.
The association noted that the development, if enforced, would reduce the incessant abduction of members in the North East.
