Lagos State emerges host of AFRIMA 2016

Out of the four states that were in the race to host the third edition of AFRIMA 2016, Lagos State has emerged as host for the event that is slated to take place between November 4 and 6, 2016.
The announcement of the host state, which was held in Ikeja, Lagos State, featured heavyweights both in the musical and media industry.
Other states that vied to emerge host city for the AFRIMA event were Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers state, which presented Calabar, Uyo and Port Harcourt respectively.
The Executive Director of AFRIMA, Mike Dada, stressed that AFRIMA started six years ago and it is all about promoting the unity of African countries since it merges both Anglophone and Francophone countries together, stating also that AFRIMA has greatly enjoyed the backing of the African union commission.
Speaking also was the representative of the African Union Commission, Yvette Ngandu, who emphasized that the aim of the African union commission is to promote the cultural and creative industry and this has been effectively done with the AFRIMA initiative.
Ngandu said: “The main goal of the African Union Commission is the development of continental policies and to monitor the implementation of such policies in the African union member states.
“And the support it renders to AFRIMA finds expression in practice.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Information and Strategy for Lagos State, Steve Ayorinde, who represented Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, thanked the organizers for their efforts and promised that the event will get the necessary support of the State Government.
