Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, on Thursday decried the lawmakers’ poor attendance of plenary.
Only 23 out of 40 members were in attendance at plenary on Thursday, which was the second sitting since resumption from two months recess on September 23.
Ikuforiji said at the plenary on Thursday: “Out of a House of 40 members, only 23 lawmakers are here.
“I wonder why lawmakers are very few in the chamber, even when they are just resuming from about two months recess.”
Ikuforiji said that he was aware that no lawmaker was on any official assignment or had been excused from attending plenary, to warrant the poor attendance.
He stated that members were supposed to be refreshed for work after long period of rest and therefore urged them to live up to their responsibilities.
He reminded the lawmakers that elections were close and that this was the time for lawmakers to attend to urgent matters of the state.
