Scion of the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola family, Kola Abiola, is one of the Nigerian aristocrats who can be regarded as socially invisible.
Kola is well known for his very private lifestyle, unlike his highly sociable late father, politician and business mogul, Bashorun M. K. O. Abiola, who was reputed for gracing many high octane occasions in his life time.
Some weeks back, Kola took time out to honour Femi Otedola, his friend since the 80s, when he staged a grand burial for his late politician father and former Governor of Lagos State, Sir Michael Agbolade Otedola.
Before now, Kola had not been a regular feature on the social circle, leaving people to speculate about the likelihood of his appearance at Otedola’s burial.
Some said he might not show up at the ceremony, while others who knew how close Femi and Kola were, vowed that Kola would show up.
It however turned out that the latter group triumphed.
Even though the late M. K. O. Abiola was a chieftain of the Social Democratic Party, the platform on which he contested the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election and won before the military regime of former President Ibrahim Babaginda’s administration robbed him off his mandate, Kola was regular face at the Lagos State Government House while Sir Otedolaheld sway as governor between 1991 and 1993.
The dark-complexion dude was seen sitting with Femi Otedola during the reception of the burial of Sir Otedola.
