State Commissioners of Finance waited in vain on Friday for the Minister of State for Finance, Yerima Ngama, who ought to preside over a routine monthly meeting of the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee, in Abuja.
The commissioners, who traveled from the 36 states of the federation to Abuja, could not control their anger as they said unprintable things about the person of the Minister, Ngama.
Timothy Odaah, who chairs the Finance Commissioners’ Forum, contended that members no longer have confidence in the Minister, having breached the FAAC Act of 1992.
Odaah said: “This is total breach of the FAAC Act of 1992, which states that ‘there will be technical session a day preceding the Commissioners forum.
“The meeting is to enable us have enough time to discuss with the office of the Accountant General.
“For now, I am not going to speak on behalf of the Minister as I don’t know what is delaying him, until he comes and explains to us the reasons behind his absence.”
But this was before the visibly angry chairman and the other commissioners left the venue of the meeting.
As at the time of filling this report, The Eagle Online could not get across to the minister’s media aide for reaction.
