The Nigeria Judo Federation has debunked the report that the body’s President, Hon. Prince Timothy E. Nsirim, was impeached by the resolutions of a purported board meeting presided over by a certain Dr. Musa Oshodi, who claimed to be the new president.
The Secretary General of the NJF, Amechi Akawo, in the press statement in Abuja on Sunday, advised members of the public and stakeholders to disregard such publication.
Akawo said the publication was not only malicious but designed to undermine the good works and progress made by Nsirim and his executive members of the board.
He added that the motive behind such publication was to destabilize the federation and consequently usurp the office of the incumbent president for selfish reasons.
In highlighting the progress made by the present board of the Nigeria Judo Federation by Nsirim in the past one year, Akawo hinted that Nigeria topped the medals table at the West African Open Judo Tournament held in Benin Republic ,with seven gold and one silver medal.
The Federation also won one gold and one silver medal at the International Judo Championship in Mauritius, before winning another gold medal at African Youth Games in Gaborone, Botswana recently.
