A former Coach of the Super Falcons, Joseph Ladipo, popularly known as Jossy Lad, is dead.
Jossy Lad was aged 72.
Information reaching The Eagle Online has it that Ladipo, who has been ill for months, died on Thursday morning at the University Teaching Hospital.
Ladipo has been on admission at the UCH for several months.
He only went home for a few days last month before he was returned to the hospital when the illness relapsed.
His first son, Wale Ladipo, confirmed the death of the former Green Eagles player to The Eagle Online on Thursday.
Wale, who managed to say a few words when he was contacted on the telephone, said: “Well, my father is no more.
“He died some hours ago and it’s a sad moment for us all and we are making arrangements to transfer his body to the mortuary now.”
Coach Jossy Lad was in charge of the then IICC, now Shooting Stars Sports Club.
He was a part of the then IICC, popularly known as Oluyole Warriors, when the club became the first Nigerian team to win a continental trophy in 1976.
The team won the African Winners Cup.
He was also chairman of the Board of 3SC.
