President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday in Abuja challenged some of his predecessors in office to mention what they did while in office.
This was even as Jonathan declared that his administration’s credible performance will serve as his selling point during the forthcoming elections in the country.
The President threw the challenge at the Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja during the inauguration of members of his Presidential Campaign Organisation under the national leadership of Chief Tony Anenih.
Jonathan boasted that his government has recorded more achievements in the last four years more than all his predecessors in office.
While obviously referring to Monday’s outburst by a former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, that his regime (Jonathan’s) has squandered the foreign reserve, which he (Obasanjo) and late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua left behind, Jonathan demanded to know what the past regimes did while in office.
His words: “Let them tell us what they have done if they were able to build secondary schools when they were serving this country.
“Our credible performance in the last four years should be our selling point.
“In all parts of the country, tell the story of all we have achieved.
“Let the fact and figures be heard in every nook and cranny of Nigeria.
“When the election comes, we will tell the world what we have done.”
The President however tasked the campaign team to go round the country to propagate the message of transformation, which has manifested in various sectors of Nigeria’s national life with boosting of the economy.
He pointed out that the 2015 elections was only another opportunity to legitimately seek the mandate of Nigerians for further service, consolidation and continuity of progress.
Jonathan further enjoined the members of his Presidential Campaign Committee not to engage in any primitive act in the campaign as the election can be won on a well articulated issue based.
