Jonathan okays Na’Abba, Etiebet, Ogunlewe as varsities council chairmen, members

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the composition and appointments of the chairmen and members of the Governing Councils of 21 Federal Government-owned Universities, a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, announced on Wednesday.
The chairmen of the Council are:
University of Calabar: Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu.
University of Jos: Chief Don Etiebet.
University of Ibadan: Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo (Rtd)
University of Abuja: Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka: AVM Larry Koiyan (Rtd).
Federal University of Technology, Owerri: Dr. Emmanuel M. I. Enemuo.
Federal University of Technology, Minna: Prof. Ahmed Rufai Alkali.
Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta: Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe.
Bayero University, Kano: Adamu Muazu.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, University, Bauchi: Yahaya Mahamood, SAN.
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria: Arc. Mohammed Dewu.
University of Maiduguri: Kashim  Imam.
University of Port Harcourt: Mr. Gesi Asamowei.
Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto: HRH George Oshiaphaghor.
University of Nigeria, Nsukka: Prof. Emeka Enejere.
University of Ilorin, Ilorin: Prof. Chukwuma Okonjo.
University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State: Prof. Kimse Okoko.
Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State: Sen. Barigha Amange.
The list, which comprises of chietains of the ruling party at the federal level and in most of the states of the federation, the Peoples Democratic Party,  also includes former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro; former House of Representatives Speakers, Ghali Umar Na’aba and Salisu Buhari; former Sports Minister, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja; John Nwodo; and Senator Kassim Oyofo.
Also on the list are the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Sun newspaper, Tony Onyima; Prof. Femi Otubanjo; former boss of the Federal Road Safety Corps,  T. Hananiya: Senator Abubakar Shodangi; former House Leader, Hon Tunde Akogun; and Prince Felix Akande among others.
Each of the university’s Governing Council will also have as members the Vice-Chancellor; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor; one person from the Federal Ministry of Education; four persons appointed by the Senate from among its ​members; ​two persons appointed by the Congregation from among its members; and one person appointed by Convocation from among its members.
The councils will be inaugurated in due course.
