The Ogun State Government has expressed readiness to collaborate with the family of the late Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, in working out a befitting burial for the renowned educationist and entrepreneur.
The Eagle Online recalls that the Iyalode of Yorubaland died on October 28, 2023 at the age of 72.
The Media Adviser of the deceased, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, made this known in a statement, adding that Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance when he visited the children of late Lawson at the family residence on Quarry Road, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The statement added that the Governor said a committee will be set up to liaise with the family in preparation for the burial in due course, emphasising that the deceased deserves a befitting burial in view of her remarkable contributions to the society
Abiodun said: We are setting up a committee of the state to interface with the family so that we can begin to plan the final rights to give Mama a very befitting passing.

The Governor pointed out that the late Iyalode was many things to many people, who during her lifetime was a very hard working and principled woman, calling a spade a spade.
Abiodun emphasised that late Lawson, a well-known philanthropist, was a passionate and selfless woman who championed the rights of women, adding that her legacy will continue to remain a reference point
The family on Sunday announced December 8, 2023 as the burial date of the deceased, a programme scheduled to hold between December 1 and 8, with a number of line up activities to celebrate the woman in Abeokuta, her hometown.
Kayode-Adedeji in a statement made available on Sunday said the burial announcement followed a meeting by the family held on Sunday, adding that a committee has been set up to fine tune the programme of events.
The statement added that the Central Planning Committee is headed by Sanya Abiola, while other members include Kayode-Adedeji (Head Media); Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, Akin Jiboku (members of the media team); Ayo Olusanya, head Ceremonial/Entertainment; as well as Olalekan Jiboku; Head Security, while Tunji Akintayo heads Protocol/Logistics.
Meanwhile the family meeting, chaired by Chief Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, added that other members of the Central Committee include Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi and Taiwo Jiboku.
