The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has described technology-driven economy as the only way out of the challenges currently confronting Nigeria.
He stated this when he received members of the National Association of Technologists in Engineering.
The team, led by its National President, Dominic Udoatan, was on a courtesy visit to Oba Balogun’s Alarere residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday.
The monarch urged the Federal Government to allocate more funds to the engineering sector, noting that developed countries placed high premium on the sector.
According to him, for Nigeria to attain its rightful place in the comity of nations, the leadership must give priority to technological advancement.
“China and other developed nations are where they are today because they are exporting the products of their technologies to the rest of the world,” he said.
