INEC declares Abia governorship poll inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Saturday’s governorship election in Abia State inconclusive.
The decision was announced on Monday evening by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba.
Ozumba said the difference in the votes of the two leading candidates was lesser than the figure from disputed areas that were cancelled.
Before the election was declared inconclusive, Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party was leading.
Following him on the table was Dr. Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
The areas with disputed and cancelled results boasts of over 170,000 votes.
