Unwanted Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche, has grabbed his 14th goal against Real Sociedad as the La Liga whined down on Sunday.
Uche’s goal also secured a Europa League spot for his Villarreal outfit.
Villarreal dominated the first half powered by the excellent Giovani Dos Santos, Moi Gomez and Manu Trigueros.
Gio opened the scoring with a nice finish following a solo run of 40-45 meters.
La Real came out strong early in the second half but the Submarine absorbed some sustained pressure.
However Villarreal doubled the lead around the 70th minute on a classic counterattack by Gio and Ikechuku Uche, as the Nigerian scored the goal with an assist from the former in front of Claudo Bravo’s goal.
Villarreal had more chances after 0-2 that they didn’t finish.
Carlos Vela scored a consolation goal deep into added time when the victory and sixth place was already secured.
