Wednesday witnessed the renewing of a Memorandum of Understanding earlier signed between the Nigeria Police and authorities of Novena University Ogume, Delta State in January, 2014.
This renewal became necessary due to the desire of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to equip Police officers with surpassing knowledge that will put them ahead of criminals in fields such as intelligence and security studies.
It came as Arase played host to management team of Novena University.
The team was led by Prof. A. A. Osakwe, the Director of Academic Planning.
The MoU, signed in 2014, will among other things offer opportunities to deserving officers to study security related courses at a subsidized rate.
Arase in his remarks pledged the commitment of the Nigeria Police to implementing the MoU as Novena University offers rare courses in intelligence studies, which is crucial in 21st century policing.
