The Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has condemned in strong terms the pre-election violence in Plateau and Rivers States.
In the two incidents, vehicles, buildings and valuable properties worth millions of naira, belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress were damaged in Jos and Port Harcourt respectively.
Saddened by the ugly developments, Abba reminded politicians, party supporters and well meaning Nigerians that politics is a means of enthroning custodians of the people’s commonwealth, for the overall benefit of all.
As such, he said it should be played with every sense of decorum devoid of religious, ethnic and all other forms of primordial sentiments.
Abba assured Nigerians that the perpetrators of these unaccepted and heinous acts will not go unpunished as the Police will do all it takes to bring them to justice.
