Super Eagles’ striker, Odion Ighalo, has guided Watford FC back to the Premier League after eight years outside of the top flight.
Ighalo starred for 65 minutes as the Hornets beat Brighton & Hove Albion two nil at lunchtime, while their close rivals, Middlesbrough and Norwich City, failed to win.
Norwich conceded a late equaliser against Rotherham United, while Boro lost 4-3 against Fulham as they gambled for a stoppage-time winner.
Watford are now four points clear at the top of the table and will be crowned champions should Bournemouth lose to Bolton Wanderers on Monday.
Slavisa Jokanovic took over at Vicarage Road in October, becoming the club’s fourth manager of the season after Beppe Sannino, Oscar Garcia and Billy McKinlay.
Next season will be Watford’s third in the Premier League.
They have never previously avoided immediate relegation back into the second tier.
