An appeal filed by the imprisoned former Governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori, to have his prison term slashed was dismissed on Thursday in London.
Two justices of the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand in London, stated that the appeal lacked merit and thus dismissed it.
They therefore affirmed the 13 years prison sentence handed the former governor for stealing and money laundering.
Ibori and members of his political inner circle embezzled over $250 million from the coffers of Delta State between 1999 and 2007.
Several supporters of Ibori, wearing T-shirts calling for his freedom, left the court premises disappointed.
Ibori was not brought to court.
