Luis Ortiz says he is ready to go to court should the WBA allow Anthony Joshua to dodge a title defence.
The Cuban is next in line to face Joshua as the mandatory WBA challenger, but is set to be put on the back-burner with Joshua waiting to see if Wladimir Klitschko wants a rematch.
There is also the problem of IBF’s mandatory challenger, Kubrat Pulev, who also feels he is the rightful challenger to Joshua.
Ortiz looks to be at the back of a long queue of heavyweights, but he promised to take action against the WBA and Joshua if a “special permit” is issued.
“I’m ready for the biggest fight of my life and it’s not with regular opponents but with no other than the world ranking of the WBA,’”Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.
“Look, if they think I’m going to fold they must be smoking some good sh*t. I’ve come too far.
“I’ve struggled too much in my life and starved one too many times in Cuba as a kid, eating only bread and water to stop now.
“I endured too much having to cross the dangerous waters of the Gulf to make it to the US for freedom for me and my sick little girl to now get bullied by anyone.
“The winner is entitled to ask for a special permit if the event merits it. But Ortiz is the mandatory contender.
“It’s in writing that Luis Ortiz should be the next opponent for the winner.”
The WBA has already said it would be willing to grant Joshua a temporary pass with the Brit juggling several demands after stopping Klitschko at Wembley.
Bu Ortiz insisted the WBA are legally bound to let him fight Joshua for the WBA title.
“Look, boxing is a sport not just a business and it’s not fair to me if they allow Joshua to get special treatment because someone is dishing out money,” he continued.
